A challenge to the High Desert Star

The new editorial page of the Hi-Desert Star is an improvement over the old mindless insult machine of the past.  The Word on the street section has a broader cross section of both local people and their sometimes-divergent opinions.  It would be helpful if the reader is informed as to the life work of those giving the opinion.  Are they plumbers or teachers, store clerks or truck drivers, government employees or small business persons, day traders or panhandlers?  Such a revelation would help the reader understand where opinion likely originates without further contributing to the political polarization that has infected America.

The new “Our View” section has at last given the paper an opportunity to put meaningful local and national issues before the readers.  One would assume that in doing so, the paper hopes to stimulate intelligent feedback and an open discussion of possible fixes.  The January 26 “Our View” section is entitled, “It’s time to admit we have a problem”.  This opinion rightly calls the folk of our community to band together to positively address the scourge of drug abuse infecting both our families, the local community and the nation.

OK, we have a monstrous problem, our children and young adults are dying and becoming virtual life vegetables.  My community is highly infected, rumors abound about our young dying amid mysterious circumstances.  The days of “just say no” and a war on drugs enforcement efforts seem totally inadequate solutions to our present problem.  If tragedy has found your family, this is not the time to hide in shame, it is time to stand up and demand change.

Why are our law enforcement officers overwhelmed with this problem? Why is heroin as cheap on the streets as cigarettes?  Why are our public schools so ineffective educating our male students?  Why can we regulate smokes away from our young and at the same time open our borders to the drug peddlers of the world?  It makes no sense because our young are being destroyed by the open borders cartel of the political Democratic and socialist radical left.  They say to you and I, our politics is more important than the life of your son or daughter.

Should you and I accept this bull, should the Hi-Desert Star?  Our paper must have an expanded view that is relevant to our everyday circumstance in real America and not some pie in the sky political theory.  Hi-Desert Star, are you afraid to be relevant and stand with your people?

Dear Congressman Paul Cook

As the Congressman representing the people of Landers, California, you are my go to guy in the federal government.  Please answer this question, does the federal government have plans to place illegal South American children in your district?  I suspect the government will spring this liability upon our neighborhoods at any moment while a few turncoats will reap a short term payoff.  It is politics by bribery.

It will be the property taxpayers we will become the long term deep pockets for these children when the federal government is dumping this responsibility upon us without our consent or knowledge.   This action by the federal government stinks!

How do you see it and what can you or we do about it?  Please respond in writing or e-mail.

The Roundup

The Hussein Democrats are setting themselves up for citizen payback.  So you think open borders are to your political advantage, think again.  What happens when you no longer have the power?  Could it be that is why you are scared and fear losing power?  You are desperate and have told lie after lie, trampled on every American law or tradition in order to stay on top.  There is nothing about america that is sacred, nothing about our history that is to be respected.  Will the citizens of America stay dumb?  You do hope that to be the case.

Some of we citizens of America have had enough, it is time for a citizen taxpayer revolt.  No more property taxes to support illegals, whether a man, a women or a child.  If you are in this country illegally, man women or child, you will be rounded up, all 15 to 20 million criminals and get an all expenses paid trip home.  The border will be secured with alligators in the Rio Grand.  Every country that sends it's people north will be cut off from all American good will and money.  One day soon, this will happen, no matter the cost. We will defend our country from our treasonous president, his political enablers of both parties and the Hispanic invasion.  What ever it takes, this is about survival!

Line in the sand

It is time to stop being nice to illegal aliens.  It is time to stop putting our heads in the sand with our asses in the air and getting fucked!  We don’t have to give all humans free medical care and a free education and free housing and a free paycheck.  Go figure, American citizens, born in this country, don’t get the free bees.  Americans have to be the stupidest people in the world and our politicians of every strip are even more brain damaged for enabling the insanity.

California Insanity

So what is coming out of Sacramento these days? Would you believe more of the same insanity? This time our illustrious politicians are funding an expanded 40 million dollar per year Dream Act, AB 131. This will make available to anyone in the world California educational financial aid. All they have to do is illegally enter the state of California and attend a taxpayer funded free California high school for three years. No citizenship questions will or can be asked. College financial assistance will then be made available. For those who graduate with an education funded by the taxpayer, where will they find the jobs?

Where is the head of our politicians or for that matter, the California voters. Isn’t anyone looking down the road just a few short years into the future? We will be another failed state, this time north of the border. We are trading short term Hispanic political points for the long term financial viability of the state. We are insane.

The kicker is that California is so pressed for money Govenor Brown is closing 25% of our state parks to save 33 million dollars a year. These parks have jobs for our citizens. Go figure.

Re: “In Agreement”, Victor P. Lopez, The Sun, Sunday, November 14, 2010.

Mr. Lopez, thank you for your letter asking for an accounting from our politicians as to where they stand on illegal immigration. All of our politicians are experts at kicking every controversial issue down the road rather than making a contribution to the discussion and hopefully a solution. You are correct that in these times punting is unacceptable. Please let me make a suggestion.

Instead of advancing a detailed immigration plan to be voted on by our politicians, let we the voters of San Bernardino county insist that our politicians first answer one question. Going forward toward an immigration plan, do you support a demand that our Washington politicians and President first enforce the immigration laws already on the books? This simple question could be answered by a simple yes or no.

If the answer is no, there will be no solution. Most of America has no confidence that any new immigration plan will be enforced any better than the deceit of the last thirty years. All of us want the same basic solutions but it would seem that no solution is possible until the law ceases to be a political football. The political impasse will remain much higher than the shadow of the fence along our southern border.

Nothing else has worked, let we the voters and our politicians insist on a plan of action that has some possibility of success. Let us insist that Washington man-up to their legal responsibilities.

Cost of Craziness

Re: “It’s Not Race” (Dan Tate, Letters, May 10)

Mr. Tate, thank you for the excellent letter detailing the economics of illegal immigration. What you say is absolutely correct, our country can’t afford this craziness. However, immigration law has never been about race. Protecting the citizenry is the motive for every nation’s immigration law, including our own. Please desist from even suggesting any false connection to race.

Hodgepodge

May 7, 2010

Rev. Wallis, your challenge to Glenn Beck on the Huffington Post May 7 sounds very confrontational. Yet, the confidence you want us to consider as genuine is only documented by a hodgepodge of liberal lip sink. There is no overarching rational that would be foundational for a debate, just a series of bleeding heart sympathy generators from a predominately Democratic ideology. Glenn Beck would be foolish to waste the time of his viewers by giving you access to his program.

You are correct that our political leadership has sent out mixed messages to the rest of the world for the last 30 or 40 years. The Republicans say come on in we want your cheap labor irrespective of our immigration laws. The Democrats say come on in and let us pander for your votes while both dangle goods and services paid at taxpayer expense. This is neither equal justice nor social justice. Do citizens who have been paying the bill for so long have a right to justice by some definition?

The Arizona law is an attempt at American justice. It has been enacted because state authorities must enforce law and order for Arizona citizens simply because federal authorities cower from their responsibilities in order to gain political advantage. We the citizens of this great country are rising up to hold our politicians accountable. The political games have to end. Their deceptions and those of the many interest groups must be exposed. The call for social justice is one of these deceptive interest groups for whom you speak Rev. Wallis.

If and when a comprehensive immigration plan is enacted, it would immediately legalize the presence of all illegal aliens in this country. Immediate citizenship no, but going forward no authority could question how and when any person arrived in this country. In affect it would seem to cancel most of our immigration law. Our border patrol would be given signs to invite all peoples to come to America. The illegal flood would turn into a tsunami. The middle class would be decimated and in just a few years there would be another 20 million or more people seeking a better life at someone else’s expense, at our expense, at citizen expense. This is social justice?

It is the plan that John McCain trumpeted in the recent past. The amnesty bill failed then and it will not succeed now until the people see present law being enforced. This really isn’t complicated. Our politicians must secure the border first, prosecute illegal employers, build the fence, expand enforcement capabilities and use the national guard as necessary. Enforcement of our immigration law, which protects we citizens, is the constitutional, legal and moral job of our political leadership. Once we have immigration boots on the ground, then we can talk about a path to citizenship for illegal aliens already in this country.

The present administration refuses because enforcement is counter to the planned progress toward a one world government. It refuses because enforcement is counter to the socialist Robin Hood mentality of the non contributors to our economy. We suspect Rev. Wallis, that your social justice agenda, your trumped-up outrage and the cries of racism are merely deceptive maneuvers at the behest of our Democratic brothers in order to whip up it’s voting base in an election year.

Your’s is the Washington Gospel, so who really has Christian motives?

Gray Matter?

May 5, 2010

TNT ….. this is giving you notice that this one basketball fan will no longer watch NBA games broadcast on your network. In fact, this fan is boycotting all of TNT programming and as many of your sponsors as possible. Your elitist ballplayer announcers should stick to basketball instead of mouthing off about a law they know nothing about. Each was an incredible ballplayer in their day but obviously they never have had much between their ears. They insult every hard working fan who struggles to pay high gate prices but remains loyal to the game they love. Now, a few basketball elites, who have no skin in the game of life, tell us we are racists.

The arrogance is repulsive. Of course, you pay their salary and they are puppets for TNT, paid on this occasion to mouth off into liberal political speak. This avid NBA viewer has no respect left for these ballplayers or TNT. In November the voice of the people will speak at the ballot box, guaranteed.

So Where's the Beef?

Letter to the Editor

May 5, 2010

Mr. Rainy, your letter (Letters, May 5) about the Arizona immigration law is at least alarmist. Let’s not speculate as to your motivations but your purported fears are illustrative of the point Mr. Irwin was making in his letter of April 30. Should you be stopped for speeding, should you not have a California driver’s license, should your vehicle have no valid registration, should your wife have no license or identification, should neither of you speak any English, then I would suppose the officer would have grounds to question the legal immigration status of you and your lady companion. The law is not a racist dragnet but a reasonable tool for we citizens to deal with a very difficult situation. So where’s the beef?

Border Race Baiters

May 3, 2010

These folks will say anything to get their way. The May Day rallies waved signs with Arizona Governor Jan Brewer in a Nazi uniform. This reader is offended by the dishonesty of the no border folks. The childhood response to name calling was and is, “it takes one to know one”! Allow me to modify this response slightly by saying, “it takes one to accuse others”! Yes, the border race baiters are flaming racists.

The byline of the sign reads, “History repeats itself”. Please allow me to return to my high school history curriculum to attempt to place that truth in it’s honest context. Take for example the Roman Empire of the Christian era some 2000 years ago. Historians ask and teachers ask today, why did the 500 year Roman Empire disintegrate?

Many factors are cited by historians as possible causes, they include: excessive taxation (Vegatus), prosperity (Gibbon), combination of historical events (Bury), technology of the horseshoe (Richt), a corrupt governmental system that included no real budget and overspending (Toynbee), a growing percentage of the population became takers of the governmental dole (Toynbee), the politics of the day made ever increasing promises, raising expectations and dumping of these expectation on an ever depleting tax base (Toynbee), creeping socialism was at fault (Bartlett), a dependence on slave labor to prop up a failing economy by chasing the family farmer to the city (Diamond), Muslim spoilers (Pirenne), endless political infighting and civil wars that depleted the national identity (Goldsmith), fracturing societal good by organized labor, unions and guilds(Bartlett). Doesn’t all this sound familiar to our country in 2010? History is repeating itself.

America is not so blessed that our future is secure. Let us reject the anti God secular propaganda, our country is gifted by God to be a beacon of freedom approximating His reign over mankind. Most of our founding fathers wisely considered themselves designers and builders of a governmental system that would give we self centered Americans a chance to function together honestly and wisely, free to explore life possibilities.

National justice was to be ensured by three branches of the federal government cancelling each other out in favor of the people. Since the federal government in the 60’s intervened into state civil right affairs, Washington has increasingly grabbed more and more power to change the will of the founding fathers. The will of the people is being snuffed out. The action taken by the federal government through the courts was absolutely necessary but the unintended consequence was and is a creeping and ballooning federalism that dictates to the people.

We Americans have experienced political and economic success unknown to mankind. Yet we are turning the corner into a predominately selfish mentality. History teaches us that this mentality has been the end of every man made political entity, why should America be any different? We are becoming spoiled children, a sense of entitlement controls an increasing number of us. Our future is quickly disintegrating and we shall join the garbage dump of the Roman Empire. Our only hope is for the people, the citizenry, lover’s of freedom, to get engaged and at least slow the process down.

Courage

Letter to the Editor
Daily Press

April 29, 2010
Re: “Arizona’s answer” (Chicago Tribune Editorial, Daily Press, Victorville Ca., April 29),

We your readers are grateful that today's editorial page includes the above article. You have shown some courage to face an issue that is probably “to hot to handle” in any California city tabloid. The hope of your readers is for the Daily Press to exhibit slightly more courage and share it’s own opinion. Doing so would light up your message boards and give all of us a forum for honest discussion of this issue. Instead, you seem to employ this article as an avoidance technique to deflect the outrage that is out there in the community.

The article from the Chicago Tribune implies that all would be well in America if our immigration laws were changed. The writer would have us open the legal immigration doors so wide that illegal immigration would not happen. In effect, this article is a call for no immigration laws and open borders. Let’s all just mingle together as one big happy family, a world wide family. Of course, the elites shall direct this new family and bear none of the financial burden dumped on the middle class. It is not surprising that this opinion is coming to us from Chicago and it’s gangster political climate.

Courage is again the problem, the writer’s mental gymnastics would agree with this summary but as stated it is much to blunt to be politically correct. The elites need to ease we Americans into this new reality. This one reader will not be so manipulated. The liberal slight of hand is all about social and economic engineering, about the federal government's designed and controlled workforce. Our founding fathers, Timothy McVeigh and Ronald Regan were all correct, the federal government is the problem.

Rev. Jim Wallis

April 26, 2010

Rev. Jim Wallis would have us believe that God wants our immigration laws broken. Shame on you Rev. Wallis for perverting the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the biblical record. What don't you understand about rendering unto Caesar what is Caesars? Jesus came to change men’s hearts not necessarily their societal standing. By changing men’s hearts we are better able, hopefully, to love all our brothers but social justice is your gig not God’s.

Every nation on the face of the earth has immigration laws to protect it’s own citizens and their jobs. Any elitist theologian who preaches social justice probably hasn’t scratched for a living in his life. He hasn’t felt the sting of watching his children suffer because of the greedy few. Sure, life is terribly unequal both at home and abroad but what, pray tell, is evil about maximizing the opportunities that hard work presents to we Americans.

Really preach Rev. Wallis, condemn the greed of our times, defend the weak and the aliens, but desist from calling immigration laws evil. To so state is a bald faced lie, for these laws defend our jobs when and if enforced. We, the people, will accept enforcement help from whomever is willing. Thank you Arizona!

Sir, your message smells of self interest. I do not recognize the church for whom you claim to speak, dare not speak for me.

The National Shame

Letter to the Editor
Daily Press
P.O. Box 1389
Victorville, Ca. 92392

April 24, 2010

The state of Arizona has trumped the trashy liberal mentality of some by enacting a new immigration law. The responses of our president, CNN, the Hispanic organizations and the unwashed masses of effected persons, are predictable and predictably motivated solely by self interest. This is the United States of America, citizenship with a job is a central historical privilege of our way of life. It is the dream of the rest of the world but this gives no one the right to steal in and destroy the opportunities of we citizens. This is not a racist opinion but one shared by every nation on the face of the earth.

The historical linkage of our capitalistic economy to legal immigration is fundamental to our identity as a nation but we the people say enough is enough to this new kind of immigration. The illegal policies allowed by our politicians are insane in a sane kind of way. Capitalism values cheap labor and the control of labor costs, not the integrity of our borders. Without the lowest possible wages on the bottom of the labor force, wages for all are prone to rise. Big business and the Chamber of Commerce own our politicians and they therefore promote illegal immigration.

Hence President Obama wants to see enacted a get out of jail free card for all who are here illegally, all their distant relatives in the four corners of the earth, all the welfare babies dumped on the system, all the drug runners, the gangsters, the murders, the kidnappers and violent felons terrorizing our country. Arizona
has onerously suffered from these crimes. As a nation, we are truly insane to allow this injustice. Insanity has been defined as continuing to do what hasn’t worked in the past. Have we not learned from 30 years of failure? What is required is the enforcement of laws already on the books.

Defend the integrity of our borders, prosecute anyone who hires an illegal alien, prosecute fraud upon our Social Security system, make it easy for all employers to check a persons immigration status, check the immigration status of all persons encountered by the police and for legal citizens “to turn in” illegal workers and their employers. Citizens bend over no longer. The time has arrived to protect our integrity as a sovereign nation. Admittedly, this does sounds a bit like big brother. However, shame on the responsible parties for making it unavoidable.

At least there are a few Arizona politicians who have gotten the message, safety and opportunity for citizens and a ride home to your own country if you are here illegally. Thank you Governor Jan Brewer and the politicians of Arizona for forging a possible way of escape from the current trashy politics of this great country.
